Extra, undesirable vertical space appears in TTY output of the
attached apt-get.8 man file. It also appears when viewed with the
man(1) command and MANWIDTH=80 or MANWIDTH=81 but not with
MANWIDTH unset or set to some value other than 80 or 81.

Details

GROFF VERSION:
  GNU groff version 1.19.3

  called subprograms:
  GNU eqn (groff) version 1.19.3
  GNU troff (groff) version 1.19.3
  GNU grops (groff) version 1.19.3

  (built from groff CVS source on 2008-03-02)

MACHINE:
  Intel 686

OS:
  Linux 2.6.22-3-686

COMPILER:
  g++ (GCC) 4.2.3 (Debian 4.2.3-1)

INPUT FILES:
  (see attached apt-get.8 file)

COMMAND LINE:
  groff -Tascii -man ./apt-get.8
  MANWIDTH=80 man ./apt-get.8

DESCRIPTION OF INCORRECT BEHAVIOUR:
  See the AUTHORS section at the end of the attached apt-get.8 man
  file. If you view that file with "groff -Tascii -man" or with
  the man(1) command with MANWIDTH=80 or MANWIDTH=81, an extra and
  undesirable blank line is injected after the "APT team" line and
  the "Author." line that follows it; like this:

  AUTHORS
         Jason Gunthorpe
             Author.

         APT team

             Author.

  If you view the file with man(1) with MANWIDTH unset or set to
  some value other than 80 or 81 (e.g., MANWIDTH=65 or MANWIDTH=72
  or whatever), then the extra blank line does not appear.
