Groff Bug Report

GROFF VERSION:
1.22.2

MACHINE:
PC x86 running Linux

OS:
Scientific Linux 5.8 (clone of Red Hat RHEL 5.8)

COMPILER:
g++ 4.1.2

INPUT FILES:

Input file is "testfile" in attached files.tar

It is very simple:

.sp 1i
This is a test
.sp 0.3i
Phone Foo Bar

COMMAND LINE:

/opt/local/groff-1.22.2/bin/groff -C testfile> out_new.ps

DESCRIPTION OF INCORRECT BEHAVIOUR:

Incorrect Postscript produced by version 1.22.2 with -C flag.

That attached tar file includes a file "scriptlog" that
demonstrates a sequence of commands to see the problem.
With groff-1.21, the correct output is generated.
See the file out_old.ps is the attached tar file.
With groff-1.22.2, the output is messed up.
See the file out_new.ps is the attached tar file.

Note that this happens ONLY when the -C flag is specified.
Even if the first line of the file is ".cp 1", if the -C
flag is not specified, there is no problem.
