Follow-up Comment #5, bug #55066 (project groff): Bjarni, we're maintaining congruence with the TeX hyphenation patterns as a design decision for the time being. I think it's a good choice as we don't seem to have the resources to maintain our own. Given that, the case for wrongness of the TeX hyphenation patterns should be taken to TeX upstream.
