It may make the DVI more readable, but it makes the Info worse. Using
address@hidden' produces `SOME-NAME' under Info, which gives the
incorrect impression that the names should be written in uppercase.
Or that they are metasyntactic variables, which they are not.
Is there a more portable way you can accomplish what you need?

I won't be applying anything else to 0.5.96 unless it fixes a serious
problem (such as missing or badly inaccurate documentation). As far
as I'm concerned, it's ready for release.
