Well it's BIOS which boots from the desired drive. GRUB will try to load
stage2 file from default drive by default. You can change this with 'd' flag
to install command. Consult documentation about it. You can also revert the
order of drives (that is, swap hd1 and hd0) in GRUB. That's also in docs ;).

GRUB doesn't understand NTFS, it knows about ext2, fat, minix, resier,
and ffs file systems. You can boot NT using chainloading.
