I have done even more testing since my last post (do anyone read this
list??), and found out a few things.
I now can boot Linux from GRUB, but when I try to load Windows it only
loads "stage1.5" and enters a new grub prompt.
After reading the info documentation under the node "GRUB images", I've
found out that "While Stage 2 cannot generally be embedded in a fixed area
as the size is so large, Stage1.5 can be installed into the area right
after a MBR"
That area once contained my boot loader from Windows if I'm not
entiredly mistaken!!!!
I do consider GRUB a fairly brain dead thingy that can zap such an
important part of a disk without warning. Even LILO actually saves what it
writes over!
So anybody know how I get my Windows boot loader back or can tell me I'm
wrong and there is another way to do it?
