HDD Light Weirdness (GRUB-Related)

I've been using grub for some time now without any kind of problem; However, I have run into a rather... odd thing. (Not sure if it's a bug, or misconfiguration on my part.)

When GRUB loads from my HDD, for some reason the HDD light turns on and stays on.

This does not occur when I boot from floppy, CD-ROM, etc.

In fact, a boot floppy containing GRUB does not have this problem. Both use the same menu.lst file (not the same physical location... just the same contents).

So anybody have an idea what is causing my HDD light to stay on whenever GRUB starts (from my hard disk)?

Everything else seems to work without a problem. Yes, it is rather trivial, but it indicates either an bug in GRUB, or my hardware, or an error on my part. I'm hoping it's an error that I can fix...

Note(s) that may be helpful:
Operating Systems installed:

Linux
QNX RTP 6.1
Windoze XP (NTFS)

The paritioning is as follows:
(HD0,0) - NTFS (Windows XP)
(HD0,1) - EXT3 (/)
(HD0,2) - VFAT (/vfat)
(HD0,3) - Extended Partition
(HD0,4) - ReiserFS (/home)
(HD0,5) - ReiserFS (/tmp)
(HD0,6) - ReiserFS (/var)
(HD0,7) - EXT2 (/boot)
(HD0,8) - SWAP
(HD0,9) - ReiserFS (/usr)

(HD1,0) - NTFS ( F:)
(HD1,1) - QNX RTP 6.1
(HD1,2) - Unused

Drive Interface(s):
HD0 - EIDE - MASTER0
HD1 - EIDE - MASTER1

Other Drives/Interfaces:
DVD-ROM (SCSI, ID 0)
ZIP-100 - EIDE - SLAVE0
CD-RW - EIDE - SLAVE1

Commands I used for GRUB installation:
root (HD0,7)/boot/grub
setup (HD0)

Additional notes: The drive light problem seems to appear whenever the ZIP-100 drive is configured to be a 'slave' device. (On channel 0 or 1). When the ZIP-100 is set to 'master', I have no such problems.

Physical (cable, ATA/100, drive locations in case...) limitations keep me from configuring the ZIP-100 as a 'master' device. Man I wish I had the money for more $C$I devices...
