I also try 'grub-floppy', both floppy bahave identicaly.

Of course it's grub, it's only a typo when I was writing the email.

I did, I had exactly the same error when I reboot.  The generated
device.map is ok.

I rerun setup command in the grub shell and note which command it issue
:

embed /boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 (hd0) 

16 sector atre embedded

install /boot/grub/stage1 (hd0) (hd0)1+16 p (hd0,1)/boot/grub/stage2
/boot/grub/menu.lst

Thanks for your quick answer.  If you can send me the lastest build of
grub, I'll give it a try.  Also, if you wish me to run some command in
debug mode and send you the output, I'll be please to do so.
