Subject: [grub #13] menu.lst is ignored

Reporter: address@hidden
Summary: menu.lst is ignored
Version: grub (GNU GRUB 0.93)
Type: software bug

Message:
on booting my machine i come only up to the grub shell, the usual menu isn't
displayed.

I have to type in manually configfile /grub/menu.lst to get the menu.

when running setup (hd0,0) from the shell i see the line where it installs the
config file :

Running "install /boot/grub/stage1 (hd0,0) /boot/grub/stage2 p
/boot/grub/menu.lst"... suceeded

but there's no success... i still land on the grub shell, the file is totally
ignored...

the system is a P90 which ran fine until the latest upgrade to debian
stable/testing as of today.

update-grub also reports finding the menu.lst file, there's no hint about any
type of error...

this is an absolute killer, since this machine is a router which runs without
monitor, thus i have to revert to lilo until this bug is fixed...
