With Lilo you can boot with "lilo -R command line" which is a once only
boot of this command line, if you reboot the box again, the old (as
mentioned in your lilo.conf) entry is booted (with your example this
mans n=1). This feature is really great for testing kernels on boxes 
where you have no physical access.
This feature is, at the moment, missing in grub and I would also like to
see this in grub.
