hey, yes! great! Thanks!

well, that is, i can boot into the errant 2nd drive when editing the GRUB
menu to read:

        root (hd1,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-8smp ro root=LABEL=/1 hda=ide-scsi

but what a pain to have to type all that in every time I boot up into that
drive...must be an easier way (?)

are u sure there is no way to edit the title and its contents and save
it?

Am i just not *seeing* where this is in the manual?

[For me, the manual gets a bit heavy duty at times -- that is, at times it
is not clear to me what does what -- and one of those times is where the
grub menu accessible hard drive titles (?) are added and deleted...)]

You see, I will want to add another title (for the low memory version),
and I am going to be over-writing the OS again shortly, so it would be
good to know

(so either way it would be good to know how to do more than edit existing
info under the titles...it would be good to know how to manually add and
delete boot-able volumes from the grub menu)

Thanks for any pointers/info -- you have been great to offer suggestions
to me through this...
