Variables in grub configuration?

I didn't see any mention of this in the documentation, but I never doubt my ability to miss something, so I thought I would ask...

 

Is there an equivalent of variables in the grub configuration files? I find that I am specifying the IP address of a server many times over many entries. It would be convenient if I could set it once at the beginning of the file, and then reference by variable in all the entries.
