Details:

Now we have (hd0) through (hdN)

Wish to also have (ide0) through (ideN) and (sda0) through (sdaN)

Reason: my IDE chain may change, but my scsi chain doesn't, so (sda0) will
always be the right device; sometimes it's (hd2) and sometimes its (hd3).

Other chain names could be added for (cd0) through (cdN) for cds, another
name for chains of usb devices, etc.
