Please excuse me if this is clearly spelt out in a FAQ somewhere but I couldn't find it.
Basically I have 2 PATA hard drives and one Sata hard drive. hda, hdb and sda respectively. I have ubuntu installed on hdb and windows xp on hda. Sda is for storage. Okay so when I install ubuntu and go to restart for the first time it hangs on stage
1.5 with an error 17. No amount of reinstalling grub helps it. In desperation I unplugged my sata drive and lo and behold it booted up fine. Is there any reason it might do this? Is there some way to make it work with the sata drive attached?
