GRUB: chainload into logical partitions : SOLVED.

As promised, here I'm back to report my findings.

Are you perhaps interested to review it and then make it available on
your GNU GRUB page http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/ somehow?
(It was a lot of work to investigate and compile the text -
perhaps it may save others hours of investigation?)
