Hello!
And yes you have collided with one of the pitfalls of the peculiar habits of
writing documentation that are found within Linux.

In your case the device file-name must be the device name for your drive.
For example on my Linux box, I have one ATA drive there, the boot and root
partition is A, so it becomes /dev/hda1a and the swap one is on /dev/hda1b. 

Since yours is probably a SATA drive who looks like a biggish SCSI drive to
most Linux systems it is indeed connected there. So part of the problem is
that the installer isn't configuring your drive correctly.

I suggest besides allowing the discussion to continue on the regular list
despite it being an Ubuntu issue that you bring it to the attention of
theirs via their regular discussion sites.

Subscription to the regular list is also suggested.
