URL: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?40323> Summary: GRUB 2 depends on specific fonts when used with truetype support Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: lukedashjr Submitted on: Mon 21 Oct 2013 01:33:20 GMT Category: None Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: Release: other Reproducibility: Every Time Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Details: Per https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488670 , upstream GRUB depends on dejavu and unifont specifically. It really should accept any truetype font. If that isn't possible, please choose other fonts. dejavu's license is non-free (regardless of loopholes/technicalities might or might not be usable to try to argue around it) and unifont breaks rendering of many characters by becoming the preferred fallback somehow. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?40323> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
