Follow-up Comment #1, bug #48287 (project grub):
Please note that it is essential that the EFI route of activation is used to
reproduce the bug. If the stick is booted using the standard route, a totally
different interface appears, and commands can be edited without needing the
control key. However this is no good as a workaround, as I am trying to get
this to work on a system which insists on EFI booting.
