This project was, AFAIK, never announced on this mailinglist and it is
not official. You could contact the developer of this translator
directly.

Sure! It just depends on what kind of stuff you like to do. I wonder
if there is a sftp translator or a ldap translator (don't ask me how
it should work :)). Another thing you could do is having a look at
the filesystems implemented for lufs:
http://lufs.sourceforge.net/lufs/fs.html
Because translators can use any library and it can be run by any user
there are not many restrictions, use your imagination.
