The other day on ##hurd when Marcus proposed to use xattrs for the
shm problem, I realized as well that a better option would be to
store the translator and author info on xattrs natively in the
file system layout instead of wrapping them in every kernel
implementation around. That would give us free translator support
on every kernel supporting xattrs w/o having to hack them. And
would allow us to add translator support to every file system with
xattrs w/o having to extend (some times in a forced way) the file
system layout.
