Hello!

$ automake --version
automake (GNU automake) 1.4-p6

$ autoconf --version
autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.60a

The ancient version of Automake is very likely the problem. How do you
happen to have such an old version of Automake installed, but nearly the
freshest one of Autoconf?  ...

It's quite simple actually. I had installed hurd from a Debian K10
cd and i didn't update any package except autoconf (for a
reason i can't recall). From now on i promise to upgrade more
often. :)

In case you're using Debian or a derivative,
installing the `automake1.9' or even (if already available)
`automake1.10' package would be the thing to do. Please try that first,
before I start poking through the files you sent me.

After the upgrade to automake1.9 the problem persists.

I don't see it here

Constantine
