PS: Git commit via emacs is completely painless 

        C-x v v → enter comment → C-c C-c

That’s how basic version tracking should work. 
(and yes: it works the same way with Mercurial :) )

PPS: branch not up to date, because I merged too early and will hold off 
pushing to first get feedback here.
