[Bug-indent] strange errors reported

With indent 2.2.6 and 2.2.8:

None of the line numbers seem correct. I don't know what/where the 
"Error:Unmatched 'else'" can be. The last error is correct, although it is at 
line 2289 in the source and line 2319 in the destination, nowhere close to 2274.

apple.c is from the SANE (mostang.com) package. See attachment.
