I haven't had a chance to go over it in detail, what are you doing
that requires Automake 1.6?  Aside from that question, it looks good.

My only concern is that Debian doesn't have automake 1.6 yet, just
1.5, and we probably won't get it until Woody freezes on May 1st.
It's not so long to wait for me, though, so please feel free to commit
this.
