Follow-up Comment #1:
Thanks - I fixed this.
(My reading of R6RS seems to suggest it is unspecified whether we get
EOL-conversion of string ports, but it seems reasonable to leave the input
characters alone. OTOH it would not be unreasonable for the read function to
do extra processing/normalization beyond what read-char does.)
