Hi,
I have a standard Mandrake 8.1 linux install on an older P-166 box. I
attempted to compile apache httpd (version 2.0.35) and configure threw this
message.
*** Warning: the command libtool uses to detect shared libraries,
*** /usr/bin/file, produces output that libtool cannot recognize.
*** The result is that libtool may fail to recognize shared libraries
*** as such. This will affect the creation of libtool libraries that
*** depend on shared libraries, but programs linked with such libtool
*** libraries will work regardless of this problem. Nevertheless, you
*** may want to report the problem to your system manager and/or to
*** address@hidden
The configure finished just fine and the compile worked just fine - therefore
I suspect one of two problems: either mandrake's libtool is not really 100%
compatible with the "official" gnu version or the apache's configure
misunderstood something.
In any event, I just wanted to share this with you.
Thanks,
-Aleks
