LilyPond is a program that is still evolving fairly quickly.
You must have read the documentation of version 1.8 or 1.9
which does not match the syntax of LilyPond version 1.6.9
that you have installed.
Please read the documentation corresponding to your version or
upgrade your installation.

As far as I can see, the braces _do_ match! What's wrong?
