This is the second report I've had of this recently. Could it be that
your version of gcc is buggy ? Apple released a version of gcc in XCode
1.5 that had problems with some c++ code.
What does gcc -v say? If it says
gcc version 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1666)
You should get the November 2004 gcc update (available at
connect.apple.com, which requires registration, but the download is
free). I suspect that you're going to have to
fink rebuild pango1-xft2-ft219
The problem does not occur on my machine, so I'm confined to speculation
