The problem simply doesn't occur here. Everything is identical, except that 
the stems come out right here. The slope of the beam is calculated 
identically.

It could be a problem with pango (I'm building from source, and use a more 
stable version of pango than the one in the windows installer). If you're 
adventurous, you could attempt to replace the pango engine with an older 
version and see if that helps (however, I can't help you with that, I have no 
clue about how to do that under windows)
