This is a known issue.  We suspect that Apple changed something in the
Leopard API that broke the text editor, but no one on the LilyPond
development team knows what the problem is.

This is likely the problem.  I don't know anything about PyObjC, so I
can't help out with this.  If you want to help, you could inspect the
files in LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources.
