I've noticed that many of the warning or error messages I see when building the docs come from missing translations. If there isn't a simple setting I've overlooked, perhaps the output of make doc would be greatly simplified if there were a way to tell it to operate on only one language rather than to build all possible ones. This might shorten the build time a bit, too.
