I suggest words along these lines be added to the command line summary in
usage. (FWIW I've now found the -dgui option as help on the -d option -
run lilypond -dhelp and it's documented, but this command seems suffiently
important to document in its own right).
"Here are a few interesting options.
'gui' Runs LilyPond silently and redirect its progress and error
output to a log file."
Somewhere near, could we also have something like this:
"Windows users will see that there are two versions of the lilypond program
on their machine - lilypond.exe and lilypond-windows.exe. By default
lilypond.exe outputs progress information to the command line.
Lilypond-windows.exe returns to the command line immediately and outputs no
progress information at all. The -dgui option can be used to direct output
to a log file."
