Regarding comment #10: it is totally annoying that git cl upload, as a rule, can't find the associated issue number, asks for it, and when given it, posts the usually outdated review header as if it reflected current development.

So in contrast to comment #10: The codereview contains the patch state intended to be pushed (as a single merge commit of a branch containing two commits).

It can go through the usual channels, and if the version bumps before it finishes, I'll be tearing my hairs out.

Since the original API seems to be by Carl, the review might benefit from his opinion about the change all in all.
