...I see that notation.pdf is 4.2M whereas notation.de.pdf, for 
instance, is 6.3M.  Sounds like it could be an issue with font 
embedding.

I opened up the changes.pdf (which is a smaller document) in LibreOffice 
Draw and can see that the document is referencing Emmentaler but it was 
not included.
