Hi Eric,
Thanks for your reply. I am sorry that I have difficulties in removing the
disclaimer because it is out of my control. I am running the make in both
shell (bash or Korn) and they have exactly the same behaviour.
/M4/m4-1.4.10/checks
bash: fail: unbound variable
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target 'all-recursive'
Here is the attached configure and make output file for your reference.
Yes, the ./configure is successfully executed. Any thought about this?
Thanks,
Lawson

Please post to the list (address@hidden) instead of individual developers, so
that others may chime in or benefit from the conversation, and so that you are
less likely to catch a developer on vacation. And when you do so, please use
an email account that does not tack on a legal disclaimer, since a mailing list
is publicly archived and the disclaimer would then be unenforceable. In the
meantime, while I set the reply-to appropriately, I cannot in good conscience
forward your original email to the list.
According to Chan, Lawson on 1/30/2008 12:07 PM:
| Hell Gary and Eric,
|
| I am having problem with compiling M4. I got the following error
|
| /M4/m4-1.4.10/checks
| bash: fail: unbound variable
| *** Error code 1
| make: Fatal error: Command failed for target 'all-recursive'
I've never seen that before; it looks like make is running with SHELL set to
'bash -u', which is a rather unusual configuration. Could you please show some
more context, such as the command line you issued, and the full log rather than
just the last few lines of the make invocation? I take it that ./configure was
successful? What platform are you on? Perhaps this is an automake bug instead?
