Hi guys.

It still does not work but I have tried a couple of things on Darrel's advice and have got some results.

1. Working from the current CVS version, it appeared I was lacking a cygwin module and, as a result, autopoint was not present. The module I added was "gettext-devel". This allowed autogen.sh to complete, though it spwed a number of messages along the way an I am unable to tell if they are worrying or not.

2. From that point I had a configure command I could run and I did it. But it failed. Actually, the way it failed looked exactly the same a what I had got with the 1.2 snapshot. So I re-ran everything from the start, with the current CVS,and both the 1.1 and 1.2 snapshots (http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mailutils/mailutils-1.2.tar.bz2 and http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mailutils/mailutils-1.1.tar.bz2). Indeed, the way it fails is exactly the same. The end of the messages before the failure is in all 3 cases :

checking size of off_t... 8
checking for long... yes
checking size of long... 4
checking for long long... (cached) yes
checking size of long long... 8
: integer _expression_ expected: 8
: integer _expression_ expected: 8
-byte type, suitable for mu_off_t

Attached are 3 zip files, each containing a copy of the command line sequence of messages (cmdl.txt) and the main files that were created. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Nicolas, what do you get when you type the below?
$ autopoint --version

In my case I get -->  /bin/autopoint (GNU gettext-tools) 0.15

If you can't get cvs going try downloading the following tar.bz2 file and
just untar and ./configure it.  See what happens.

   http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mailutils/mailutils-1.2.tar.bz2

With this you don't need the auto tools.
