You have new mail in /var/mail/dyy
$ mail
No mail for dyy
$ mutt
/var/mail/dyy is not a mailbox

The mutt answer gives the user a hint that his mailbox it there but
not in perfect mailbox format. GNU instead withdraws into "denial".
