Which is the missing separator?

I try to compile the ucanoscan driver on Darwin with CVS downloaded source files
but the gnumake gives me the following:

[localhost:~] maxx% cd desktop/sourceforge.net/ucanoscan/freebsd-driver
[localhost:sourceforge.net/ucanoscan/freebsd-driver] maxx% ls -f
canoscan_usb.c  CVS             Makefile        README
[localhost:sourceforge.net/ucanoscan/freebsd-driver] maxx% gnumake -d -f makefile
