Details:

A patch will be provided to support a new special target, tentatively called
.PARALLELSYNC, which keeps the output of parallel jobs discrete. The
background is amply described in a long thread starting at
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-make/2011-04/msg00018.html

My patch will only address POSIX systems but with luck this can be ported to
the full set of platforms which also support -j
