Well, why the hell is it there, then?  I assume you are the one
who is supposed to know that, and not me.  If it is unnecessary
or obsolete or whatever, removing it will eliminate any further
future confusions.

If we are talking about sub_proc.c, there is only one active call
but it doesn't do anything with the returned string.
