Maybe you want to backport those to idutils instead? :) Half of the
performance improvement comes from hashing (a mix of hashing faster,
hashing better, and improved cache behavior from linear probing).

I forgot to mention that I did this work while being employed by Red Hat
and on company time, so I do not need copyright assignment.
