make fails on RH7.2

ncurses fails during make.  I had this same problem on RH7.0 but it had
never been updated so I bought RH7.2 and performed up2date after the
install.  I still have the problem.  ./configure worked fine.

I have attached a zip file with a tee of the output of make along with
config.log and config.cache.  I am running:

Distribution Verison:            Red Hat 7.2
Operating System Ver:        #1 Tue Oct 30 19:31:55 EST 2001
Operating System Rel:        kernel 2.4.9-13
Processor Type:                 i586
Motherboard:                      ep-58MVP3C

I did run make as 'root'.
