The most recent version is achieved by applying the most recent rollup
patch, e.g., ncurses-5.5-20060909-patch.sh.bz2, and the successive

Sep 24 00:33 GNU Compressed ncurses-5.5-20060923.patch.gz 206Kb
Oct 1 00:39 GNU Compressed ncurses-5.5-20060930.patch.gz 3Kb
Oct 8 01:06 GNU Compressed ncurses-5.5-20061007.patch.gz 37Kb

All aplied but unfortunately the behaviour does not change. With the
same program as previously I get sigsegv on stepping on access()
(exactly the same place as previously).

I'll take a look this evening, to compare results.

PS. I hope patch-5.5-20060909.sh.gz has the same contents as
ncurses-5.5-20060909-patch.sh.bz2 - if not please let me know and I'll
make the test again.

yes - it's just a different format
