Mr. Reiser:

I just joined their mailing list, and have begun to watch their
discussion threads. I am sure they would be intending to implement it, but I
have carbon copied them on this reply, so they will be aware of your offer
of code, and perhaps this will expedite the situation to where one of these
fine products will begin to support the ReiserFS for partition resizing.

You did not address a question, which I had asked as well, which is
if ReiserFS has a partition "id" separate and unto itself.

Very Respectfully,

chance your development team would consider contributing code to parted able
to allow it to resize partitions created using your filesystem? This could
also help to alleviate the issues regarding its lack of ability to be
resized by any partition editor.

it seems not to be able to be resized by Partition Magic 6. I am not sure if
this concerns you at all, but since the resizing of a filesystem is not just
done on the virtual level (but also on the physical device level), this is
of concern to some people. Please do not suggest I choose a utility other
than PM6 to do this, as I am not interested in throwing away the investment
I have in PM6 to perform these functions, when I could use EXT3 and resolve
this issue.

was not assigned an "ID" for the partition, which was particular to
ReiserFS. When I went back to W2K/PRO and fired up Partition Magic 6, the
partition was recognized as an EXT2 partition.

not as space efficient Partition Magic 6 supports it.

well, we have such code that could be adapted by them (Linux LVM uses it).
If
they are interested in working with us, they should contact us.
