Sorry, but I want to talk about implementing libhfs one more time. Why 
you don't want implement libhfs, like libreiserfs or libreiserfs are? It 
might be include something like the following:

hfs_fs_open(device)
hfs_fs_close(fs)
hfs_fs_resize(fs, geom)



Then parted might be using this libhfs for like it uses with libreiserfs.
