Hi!
I'm trying to resize a logical partition on a 100gb westerndigital
harddrive, formated in msdos.
When doing a resize 5 26126.3809 65128.1792 it waits for a few seconds
(while filesystems has heavy load) before it segfaults.
address@hidden:/home/cronius# parted /dev/hdc print
Disk geometry for /dev/hdc: 0.000-95396.273 megabytes
Disk label type: msdos
Minor Start End Type Filesystem Flags
2 0.031 5999.765 primary ext3
3 6126.258 95395.781 extended lba
5 6126.381 45128.179 logical fat32
6 67894.835 95395.781 logical fat32
Using parted 1.6.6, linux 2.6.0, slackware 9.1. I've had the same problem
with gentoo and 2.4.xx kernels/2.6.0-testx kernels, and eariler versions of
parted.
When parted starts it says: "Information: The operating system thinks the
geometry on /dev/hdc is 193821/16/63. Therefore, cylinder 1024 ends at
503.999M." I don't know if this is relevant.
Is this a software bug or a hardware problem? I've been using parted quite a
lot on this drive, but now it just segfaults every time.
(I'm not subscribing to the mailinglist, please email me directly when
replying to this, thanks!)
