function ped_disk_next_partition() failed.

This is on a PPC powerbook, running Ubuntu Hoary, dual boot with OSX. 
This error occurred while running Qparted. Qparted runs without
crashing, but cannot display the partitions on the harddrive, resulting
in the following error being printed to an open terminal:
