Bug in parted 1.6.15 Fedora core 3

Dear Sir/Madam,

When accessing a master ide disk on the secondairy controller did I
encounter the following message after typing print as command in parted:

You found a bug in GNU Parted.  Please email a bug report to
address@hidden containing the version (1.6.15), and the following
message:

Assertion (heads < 256) at disk_dos.c:486 in function
probe_partition_for_geom()
failed.
Ignore/Cancel? c
You found a bug in GNU Parted.  Please email a bug report to
address@hidden containing the version (1.6.15), and the following
message:

Assertion (heads > 0) at disk_dos.c:485 in function
probe_partition_for_geom()
failed.
Ignore/Cancel? C

This second one is repeated a few more times. 
After a while I did get this:
Assertion ((C * heads + H) * sectors + S == A) at disk_dos.c:495 in function
probe_partition_for_geom() failed.
Ignore/Cancel? i
Error: Unable to satisfy all constraints on the partition.
Error: Can't have the end before the start!

Fdisk -l gives the correct partition table for the disk without any error
reports and all partitions are working correctly.
