Thanks for this quick response.

I also see the problem in the kernel, but the system worked for about 2 
months with nearly the same configuration (only some python-packages were 
added). All I did was changing the partitions of one of the storages ...

I was thinking abut something like a

If /proc/partitions does not know about your partitions but parted does 
so, you should try running partprobe.

Hint: If you miss your partitions after a reboot, it could be necessary to 
run partprobe at every reboot.

I understood the man-page of partprobe like it is a tool to force the 
system re-reading the partitions without a reboot after making changes. 
But at the moment at least I have to use the tool to make the partitions 
visible for Linux every time I reboot - this is not "inform the OS of 
partition table changes", it is something like "inform the OS of the 
partition table" ;-)

But you're right: it also may be the fault of the SCSI-host-driver - 
something like a timeout. I will inform these guys tomorrow.
