Thanks for the report. This has been fixed in newer versions of parted.
You can work around it by removing the old partitioning on the drive and
re-creating it with parted. dd if=/dev/zop of=/dev/device bs=1M count=1
should do the trick (note, this will destroy whatever you have on it so
make sure you have a backup).
